Early in June I made a trip to the South Hills to do some hikes that I had not yet done. I hiked the Eagle Loop Trail, and the Rim View Trail. The wildflowers were plentiful, and I stopped sometimes every few feet to photograph the hillsides covered with flowers. Along the Rim View Trail there are many dead and fallen trees from fires that had burned through the area several years ago. The grasses and flowers have returned, but the trees that are growing are young still. Along the trail I found a dead tree on the ground, with this Wood's Rose intertwined completely in and through the dead branches. I loved the contrast between the dead wood, and the new young rose stems. It reminded me of how the younger generation is tied to their ancestors that have gone before.
