Window Arch at City of Rocks | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print
Horizontal orientation.
Window Arch is one of several popular attractions at City of Rocks National Reserve, near Almo on Idaho’s southern border. City of Rocks is most known for its massive granite rock formations, which draw thousands of climbers from all over the world each year, as well as campers and photographers. Photographers love to shoot night-time images in this park, which has little to no light pollution. During spring break 2026, I planned several photography excursions to southern Idaho places of interest. I love the outdoors, and for the last 5-10 years it has been a goal of mine to capture the beauty of nature through photographs. I had visited several times to City of Rocks, and I knew that March was a little early for wildflowers to be in bloom, but our sunrises and sunsets this month have been spectacular. I thought I would try to capture a sunrise over some of the beautiful stone formations, and the Window Arch was one that I had not yet seen. I arrived just as it was just getting light enough to see without a flashlight and met a camper in the parking lot just getting up to enjoy the sunrise as well. It was a bit of a challenge to find a spot to shoot from to catch the sunrise, but I prevailed!
