Having grown up on a farm and spending my childhood doing irrigation and putting up hay, I have a fondness for agriculture and the beauty of farms and barns. One of my favorite scenes is wheat ready to harvest. In this image, there were wildfires burning in neighboring states that caused the atmosphere to have an orange and red tone. On this mid-August evening, I was out driving around the Idaho Falls rural areas and the tall wheat with the setting sun caught my eye. I set up my camera at the height of the wheat, with the sun just over the horizon line. The smoky air created a golden haze that made a perfect backdrop for the wheat. The simplicity of this scene brings joy and satisfaction each time I see it.
