Percival Landing is a marina on the Budd Inlet of the Puget Sound in Olympia Washington. The Olympia Yacht Club members and others boat owners dock here, and occasionally there are events such as the wooden boat show, and Tall Ships festivals. The surrounding area is a public park, and one can walk along the docks and see the boats close-up. On this calm and tranquil July dawn, I arrived before sunrise and walked the piers capturing images as the daylight began to light the marina. The water was calm enough to mirror the boats and the colors of the sky with just a few ripples, and the masts of the boats along this pier were catching the first golden rays of sunshine. This image captures some of the charm of the landing, including the little foot bridge and the themed architecture of the park structures. There were a couple of harbor seals swimming around and lots of seagulls that morning as I walked along the quiet pier engulfed in the familiar and pungent smells of the treated wood planks and Puget Sound water. I have never been much of a fan of water, but after having been away a few years, it was pleasant to return for a sunrise at the park.
