Sunrise at low tide at Percival Landing | Western Washington Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Horizontal orientation.

Percival Landing in Olympia Washington has been a favorite photography spot for me for many years. My family lived in Lacey near Olympia for over 20 years, and our kids grew up there. We went to the Wooden Boat show and Capital Lake Fair each year with the family at Percival Landing. During the 20 years we lived there, we saw many changes to the city and park, and eventually we stopped going to events because of the homeless and drug issues the city was troubled with. After moving away, I returned to visit friends and family and found some positive progress. I spent about two hours that morning walking the landing shooting photos, and found flowers, clean walkways, and a pleasant environment again. A few years earlier, I had shot a sunrise from this point at the entrance gate to the Olympia Yacht Club when the tide was much higher, but at that time I lacked the skills and equipment to capture the lighting, and bring the flowers into focus along with the rest of the scene. On the morning that I shot this image, there were no clouds, and the sunrise colors reflected off the calm water, making one of the most peaceful scenes I ever remember experiencing there.
