Sun-Break Over an Idaho Falls Farm
Horizontal orientation. Canvas prints are available with optional barnwood or hardwood floating frames hand-crafted by the photographer, making a truly unique and one-of-a-kind piece of art. Please see images for details.
Several years ago, while working with another Boy Scout leader at a summer scout camp, the topic of photography came up quite often. He was an accomplished photographer, and noticing my strong interest in it, he offered me a camera body and lenses that he no longer used. While visiting family in Idaho Falls, I took a drive one evening out toward the west side of town to look for agricultural subjects. As the sun began to set, thick cloud cover began to form, and the lighting changed rapidly. As I approached a newer barn, I noticed the sun breaking above the clouds, while sunset colors appeared below, creating a beautiful contrast in the sky. I pulled over and walked out across the rows of blossoming potato plants to get a closer view of the barn with the colors behind it. With the lighting changing so quickly, I tried to capture an image each time the sun peeked through and managed to get a few successful ones. This one features a portion of a wheel-line in the foreground, some sunset color and golden grain with the barn in the midground, and the dramatic clouds and sun break in the background.
