Stepping Stones | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print
This fine art paper print, framed in a barn wood frame with a dark Jacobean stain finish hand-crafted by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. Available also as a print only, in three optional sizes and materials.
The Snake River at Cauldron Linn runs east to west, presenting wonderful opportunities for capturing photos at sunrise or sunset. At this remarkable location near Murtaugh, it is forced into a very narrow passage, less than 40 feet wide, through impenetrable basalt rock. Just a few hundred yards before the river narrows and rushes wildly over rapids and falls, the section shown in this image calmly meanders through an intricate network of passages around basalt. The rocks have been smoothed over by sometimes much faster moving water, but on this late summer evening it almost stood still, peacefully reflecting the rocks and evening skies. Solitary willows scattered among the rocks stood calmly against a backdrop of the setting sun and deep purples of the clouds. The softness of the scene in this capture invokes a feeling of serenity, reverence and peace, immediately taking me back to the quiet and calm evening spent there on a mid-July visit, when the stresses and pressures of programs, performances, and the busy school year were non-existent, and quiet summer days gave life a little breathing room.
