The South Hills region of the Sawtooth National Forest is a popular area for hiking, trail riding, and camping. Within an hour’s drive south of Twin Falls, one can reach the Rock Creek Third Fork Trail. Along this popular trail people often spot moose, eagles, and other wildlife. In the first week of June 2025, I hiked this loop for the first time and was amazed at the variety of wildflowers. I began hiking at around 6:00am and spotted a couple of moose within the first ½ mile. I stopped many times to capture images of wildflowers, reaching these aspens around 7:30 as the sun was making its way up above the treetops. The warm golden rays of sunlight filtered through the trees, giving them a splendid glow. I think aspens are one of the most beautiful trees, and when I came across this scene with the contrast between light and shade, I had to stop and take in the beauty and capture the moment! I can hardly wait to return in the fall to this area to see the aspens turn gold.
