On September 11th each year, the Magic Valley 9/11 Memorial volunteer committee with the assistance of the Twin Falls Police and Fire Departments hold a commemorative event and display an enormous US flag in front of the Perrine Bridge. The view of the bridge over the Snake River canyon is already spectacular on any given day, but the view of the flag suspended in front of the bridge is such an inspiration. On 9/12/2026 I drove down to the Mogensen Trailhead while it was still dark and hiked down to the shoreline to get some photos of the magnificent flag display. The flag is lighted at night, and I wanted to get a shot with it lit. It proved to be a significant challenge to get the correct exposure with the flag spotlighted, so I use auto-exposure bracketing, and merged the three images to keep the flag from appearing too bright, and to allow the background to be visible. The air was calm that morning, with just a little breeze that kept the flag just slightly billowed. It still required a quick exposure to ensure that the flag did not have movement blur. I was excited about the final result!
