Ross Lake North Shore | Northern Washington Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Horizontal orientation.

Ross Lake is in the North Cascades in Northern Washington and Southern British Columbia, Canada. The lake is accessible only by hiking or boating in and is a popular spot for Boy Scouts to canoe or kayak. In July 2014 I helped organize and lead a multi-day kayaking trip with about 15 boys. We rented kayaks at the Ross Lake Resort, and stayed each night at a different campsite, kayaking about 6-10 miles each morning to the next site. The mornings were calm and absolutely magnificent, but none of the boys seemed to be able to wake up early enough to enjoy them. One morning when everyone else was asleep, I set out in a kayak toward the northern shore in Canada. I kayaked about 3 miles from our site to get there and arrived as the sun was appearing over the mountain peaks. I spent an hour or so taking photos as the sun rays spread across the forested shore. The shimmering glass-like water reflected the sunlit trees, and I was awestruck by the beauty everywhere I looked. I must have described it with enthusiasm, because the boys later wanted to see it. They paddled out to see it, but the other leader had to tow them back with his motorized rowboat, because they got all tuckered out!
