Pioneer Cabin View | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print
Horizontal orientation. Framed in a weathered wood frame with a Jacobean stain finish for a 12×18 canvas print, hand-crafted by the photographer, making this a truly unique and one-of-a-kind piece.
The Pioneer Cabin near Ketchum is at the culmination of Trail #122, a challenging and steep trail that is known for its beautiful views of the Pioneer Mountains in Blaine County Idaho. The historic cabin, built in the 1930s has a sign on the roof that reads “The higher you get, the higher you get.” After researching some trails to try, I hiked this in July 2023. The views were truly magnificent along the trail, but it was certainly rewarding to find this cabin and mountain view at the top. As I got to the steepest section of the trail, I stopped to take some photos and heard some heavy breathing coming up from the trail behind me. After a few moments I spotted a trail runner and as she got closer, I noticed that she was a retiree, about 20 years older than I, cruising up the trail twice as fast as I! I thought that I was in decent shape but got a bit of a wake-up call that day! When I reached the cabin, she was just getting ready to start down, and I had a chance to visit with her for a few minutes. Truly amazing person! I spent an hour or so at the top exploring and shooting photos, and this one is one of my favorites of the cabin and mountain views.
