Pillar Falls Reflections in Winter | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

This canvas print, framed in a barn wood frame with a weathered gray stain finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. Available also as a print only, in three optional sizes and materials.

Pillar Falls is located along the Snake River just east of Twin Falls. It is most recognizable by the large rhyolite stone pillars across the width of the river, but besides the large pillars, there are various levels of rock, and several cascading layers of waterfalls. During the spring and summer, much of the rock is covered with water, but when the water levels are low, one can walk out on the rock, completely crossing the river. The rock is formed in such unique shapes that it feels as if one is walking on a different planet when exploring the area. The river splits in numerous directions as it makes its way through the maze of rock, and in several places, it forms calm pools like the one seen in this image. I was able to walk out along the rocks and lay down along edge of the pool where I could get a good view of the reflections of some of the pillars in the calm water. The water eventually meandered further downstream where it spilled over the falls and on down the river. In this calm moment before the falls, time seemed to stand still and allow me to capture this forever peaceful image.
