"Old Owsley Bridge before sunrise" Print
Images show an optional hand-crafted barn wood frame for a 12×18 canvas print.
The old Owsley Bridge in Hagerman Idaho has become one of my favorite places to photograph. The bridge has been closed to traffic for several years and is now listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It was constructed in 1921 and is one of only a few bridges built in this style. The massive iron trusses make one feel quite small , and the faded colors give it so much character. I chose this location to shoot on the morning of my 54th birthday, and I arrived well before sunrise. The crescent moon shone brightly, yet the outline of the full moon was visible around it. A nearby planet glowed brightly and the stars began to fade as the sunrise colors began to appear. The colors and celestial elements each cast an exquisite reflection in the perfectly tranquil water of the Snake River. The air was so still that the tall grasses moved only slightly during the twenty-second exposure. The peace and serenity of the landscape that morning was awe-inspiring and left an impression that will remain with me for a long time. Capturing this scene so clearly on this cool, crisp summer morning was a true pleasure.
