On an early September evening, I took a drive toward Buhl Idaho to see some of the old barns in the area and the rural farmland at harvest time. Much of the wheat had already been harvested, although the corn was still tall and green. After stopping at the old Rudolf Kunze barn and a nearby irrigation pond and ditches beside the roadway that were surrounded by wild sunflowers and other beautiful grasses and flowers, I headed back toward Twin Falls. While driving along E 3900 N, I saw an old barn along the side of the road that I have passed by before, but it looked quite beautiful with the sun setting behind it. Much of the roof is now gone and the barn is certainly showing signs of its age. However, there is a great deal of history behind every barn, and it was my privilege to meet someone at an art show whose family owned the barn. She shared with me that it had served 4 generations of the family, and that many wonderful memories were formed here. It touched my heart to hear the history and how much the barn meant to them. She purchased a framed print, and shared it with other family members, some of whom I have had the opportunity to meet. It was such a treat to be able to capture this for them!
