Narada Falls, Mount Rainier | Western Washington Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Vertical orientation.

While visiting friends and family in Washington this summer, we had a chance to visit Mount Rainier. Even though it was a weekday, the crowds were a bit out of control, so we stayed away from the more popular areas, visiting Reflection Lake and Narada Falls. The falls are pretty spectacular, but I typically do not like to shoot midday in harsh sunlight. I went downstream a little further and took some images on the water below the falls and then headed back up to meet our friends. As I got to this lookout area, there were a couple of busloads of tourists gathered around, blocking access to any good viewpoints from the trail lookout point. Being impatient as usual, I stepped off the trail and stooped down below the lookout point, close to ground level. I put on a neutral density filter and took a few images. This one is one of my favorites from that day. I can look at the image and enjoy the peaceful scene without the racket of 70 tourists shouting in Japanese and pushing their way through the crowds!
