La Push Second Beach Rolling Fog | Western Washington Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Horizontal orientation.

The Pacific coast beaches are known for their remarkable beauty, and Second Beach in Olympic National Park is stunning. There are splendid sea stacks, open beaches, beautiful driftwood, caves, and fantastic coastlines along the beach. My wife is not a camper, but she agreed to pack in with me and stay overnight on the beach. We were lucky enough to behold one of the most spectacular sunsets I have ever seen on that evening at the beach. During sunset the tide was out, and I hiked along the shore for hours. Sometimes the setting sun was obscured by fog rolling in, but the wet sand still reflected the sunset colors fantastically. I was somewhat young in photography and was not yet aware of auto-exposure bracketing, so capturing the very high dynamic range of light was a little out of my skill set at the time. Still, I am happy with the brilliant reflections and silhouetted birds and sea stacks. I have only been back there twice more and was not nearly as lucky as we were on that special evening spent on the beach in August of 2014.
