The temples of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints are built to the highest standards of architecture and construction and are each a beautiful work of art. They are one of my favorite photography subjects because they are lighted beautifully at night, and are magnificent at sunrise, sunset, or even at midday. The Idaho Falls Temple is situated along the Snake River, visible from many places on the riverfront park. In August 2018, my family traveled to Idaho Falls to visit family, and as I was starting to gain a strong interest in photography, I spent each morning and even several evenings taking photos, mostly while everyone else was still sleeping! This image was taken from across the river at 6:00am. Having lived in western Washington where sunrises are rare sights, I was ecstatic to get a sunrise so beautiful to be the backdrop for the temple photo! The front of the temple faces east, so this image is of the back, although the temple was intentionally built to be beautiful from the back as well. I love to incorporate the Snake River in photos of the Idaho Falls Temple, but in this photo I chose a closer view to feature the magnificent sunrise.
