Vertical orientation.
This gorgeous waterfall is near Upper Salmon Falls in an area simply called “Fall hole” in Hagerman. It is an area with half a dozen waterfalls, some small and some rather large and spectacular. The location is a favorite of mine to photograph. It is beautiful during every season of the year, and I have enjoyed capturing snow falling there in wintertime, and summer sunrises as well. On this New Years Day morning excursion in 2025 there was a fresh snowfall around Hagerman, and there were occasional heavy snow flurries while I was out exploring. Some of the falls in this area are easy to access, but this one requires either wading in the water above the falls or jumping across a rather deep crevice to get to a rugged island section where one can view some of these lesser-known falls. I wanted to find an angle where I could capture a full view of this slender waterfall, so I set up my tripod on the very edge of the rock crevice and sat perched over the water below, on the snow-covered rocks. It was wet and icy cold, but the sunlight from behind cast a warm glow on the rocks in contrast to the icy blue water, making a wonderfully warm and mesmerizing image.
