Green River Valley Misty Morning | Western Washington Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Horizontal orientation.

While visiting family in Kent, Washington, I took a morning drive along the Green River in the Auburn and Black Diamond area. The valley supports dozens of farms and is refreshingly peaceful in comparison to the nearby interstate and sprawling cities. We lived near Olympia for many years, and every time I drove the I-5 freeway it was stressful and unpleasant. Having grown up in wide open farming country, I could not get used to the trees blocking the view everywhere I went, people everywhere, and not being able to see for miles around. Driving through the valley was like taking a step back in time. During that morning drive, there was a low rolling fog settling on the open fields and enclosing the buildings and surrounding trees. It felt eerie yet peaceful and comforting at the same time. As I rounded a bend, this scene caught my attention, as the sun reflected brightly off the fog, creating steam as the sunbathed ground warmed. The cattle seemed content grazing in the shade, while the sun’s rays broke through openings in the tree line. The reflected light was intense and brighter than usual, and I immediately wanted to try to capture this before it changed.
