The McAllister Grove Community Park in Lacey Washington was a favorite location of mine to shoot while I lived there and was learning the ins and outs of photography. I passed by the park daily on my way to work, and very often at dawn I would see a low fog rolling across the park and among the Garry Oak trees. I visited the park more than a dozen times to try to capture some of the beauty of the fog and magnificent trees. On my first visit, I found a rope and swing attached to one of the oak branches, and it struck me with wonder and nostalgia with its simplicity and peace. I returned to try to capture a sunrise with the swing, but to my disappointment, it had been removed. I spent many hours on several different mornings attempting to capture the sun’s rays through the branches of the oaks, and occasionally I got lucky and got some beautiful results. This image is one of my favorites, as the sun seems to be caught among the main branches of the tree. This tree always impressed me with its grand shape, and this is one of my favorite images of the trees in the park.
