Foggy Stanley Basin | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

The magnificent Sawtooth Mountains in central Idaho are popular for photography, as well as hiking, camping, and other outdoor activities. I have made the drive through the Stanley Basin several times, but on this early June morning I was struck with awe at the beauty of the misty fog lit by the rising sun, and the mountains bathed in morning light in the background. I didn’t realize how cold the temperatures were until I stepped out of the car, and noticed frost on the brush alongside the highway, and the steam rising as the sunlight hit the rocks and creek. Much of the basin is used for ranching, and the fences all through the area are rustic and weathered, adding to the beauty of the scenery. The view here is typical all along the drive, but the way the light caught the landscape struck me and inspired me to capture this image. The creek in the foreground brings back memories of walking through pastureland alongside a creek with my grandfather while I was a teenager. The cares of the world seem to disappear in the background when confronted with scenes like this while exploring outdoors.
