Flag Suspended Across the Snake River Canyon

On September 11th each year, the Magic Valley 9/11Memorial volunteer committee with the assistance of the Twin Falls Police and Fire Departments hold a commemorative event and display an enormous US flag in front of the Perrine Bridge. In 2026, to honor the 250th birthday of the United States of America, the committee arranged to display the flag for a couple of weeks surrounding Independence Day. The view of the bridge over the Snake River canyon is already spectacular on any given day, but the view of the flag flying is such an inspiration. This summer I drove down to the Mogensen Trailhead and hiked down to the river's edge to get some photos of the magnificent flag display. The trail continues underneath the bridge for quite a distance, so as I was nearly under the bridge, I shot this photo of the flag suspended across the canyon and reflecting in the river. I always love a good reflection, and the water was still and calm enough to create a shimmery mirror-like image in the water.
