I had passed this fantastic old red barn many times while living in Washington on drives to Enumclaw and Mount Rainier. Last summer morning while visiting family in Kent I again drove out to Enumclaw, but with the intention of getting some photos of the beautiful places I have just driven past before. This farm is on a very busy highway, and it was worth pulling over to get a few photos, but rather sketchy crossing the highway and walking alongside it. The morning mists were settling over the pastures and fields, and by this time of the morning they were reflecting the golden sunlight. I wished I had arrived just a little earlier before the sun had crested the horizon, but the lighting was still ideal for a few shots. Everything was calm and peaceful, in stark contrast to the busy highway right behind me. I walked back and forth along the highway shoulder several times to try to capture the beauty of the barn and surroundings in the morning light. This image is one of my favorites with the fenceline and barn and outbuildings leading towards the rising sun.
