December Evening at Auger Falls | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Horizontal orientation.

Auger Falls is just a few miles downstream from the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls Idaho. The City of Twin Falls operates the Auger Falls Heritage Park which has mountain biking trails and a skills course, as well as access to the falls and views of Mermaid Falls across the canyon. There are quite a few rapids and drops along the Snake River in this area, and the first time I visited, I was amazed by the power of the rushing water through here. I wanted to get down near the rushing water, but the terrain is rocky, and there are steep drops in several places. I have tried several times to capture the rushing water here and haven’t been very pleased with most of my images. On the day I took this image, I had biked out to catch the sunset in mid-December. Much of the vegetation was dead and brown, but one of my favorite things about the canyon in wintertime is the deep red foliage scattered among the browns. That evening, I found a deep red plant next to a puddle on the rocks that had bled deep red into the puddle, and as I was setting up for the image, the clouds in the east began turning shades of pink as the sun set in the west. This is an image that I am quite proud of, after many unsuccessful attempts.
