There are two things in the Magic Valley that are hard to beat: the sunflowers and the sunsets! I was driving home from running some errands with my wife one mid-August evening, and noticed the skies filling up with yellows, golds, purples, oranges and reds. I didn't have my camera with me, so as soon as we got home, I grabbed my gear and headed out to the Blue Rock Farm Market where I had previously seen a beautiful patch of sunflowers. I found their old farm truck parked out among the sunflowers and dahlias and couldn't think of a more spectacular sight under the setting sun! Late August is always a stressful time for both my wife and I as we begin the first weeks of the school year as teachers. It seems like I am always 3 weeks behind after the first week of school. Adjusting from relatively few time demands to suddenly being thrown into concert planning, calendaring, lesson planning, student behaviors, and more is always a challenge. A peaceful evening scene like this sometimes takes me completely away and brings back needed perspective.
