At the base of the Picabo Hills in Southern Idaho lies the Silver Creek Preserve, a conservation area well known for fly fishing, but also for its abundance of birds and other wildlife. Through the efforts of conservation groups and individuals, this area preserves the beauty of a spring-fed creek, as well as surrounding historical buildings and fences. After spending a very wet and rainy October morning hiking along Stocker Creek before daylight, I parked along the preserve upper access road to explore along Sullivan Lake. On the opposite side of the lake from me was one of the prettiest stands of Quaking Aspen I have ever seen, and I had resolved earlier in the year to visit during the fall. I was perhaps a week too late for the peak golden leaves, but some of the trees still had leaves, and the colors were fantastic. As I walked down from the road I saw 4 young mule deer, and across the lake from me I spotted a moose cow and calf. The skies were mostly overcast, and there was no visible sunrise, but the reflections and colors were vivid and striking. This 6 -vertical image panorama captures the majority of the lake and Aspen grove.
