The beautiful Camas Lilies near the Centennial Marsh Wildlife Management Area bloom for a brief length of time each spring, from about the last week of May until the second week of June. In full bloom, they blanket the areas surrounding the Centennial Marsh with a sea of purple. The blooms last for a fleeting period but are well worth capturing in a photo, to become a permanent memoir of a serene experience. In the moment that this photo was captured, the air was still and calm, and the only sounds that could be heard were the calls of the myriads of birds that reside in the marsh. In many areas, a rustic wood and barbed wire fence surrounds the lilies making it impossible to get closer, but occasionally there are one or two near enough to the road that one can reach for a close-up. The magnificence of the blooming lilies lasts for just weeks, but the essence of the bloom is captured forever in this image.
