The Mogensen Trail in Twin Falls is located along Canyon Springs Road, which winds down into the Snake River canyon near the Perrine Bridge. The trail is one of the most popular in Twin Falls, with many views of waterfalls and the Perrine Bridge, and with many short offshoots to the river’s edge. One morning in June 2026, I saw that the weather report indicated some clouds, which generally makes for a more picturesque sunrise. I arrived before daylight at the trailhead and hiked to the cliff tops for some sunrise photos. The cloud cover was thick to the east, and the sun had a hard time breaking through. The clouds were mild purple and blue as it first started to get light, and the view was very calming. I found a gnarly twisted sage brush for the image foreground, and took a wide angle shot that included the brightly colored clouds where the sun was trying to break through, as well as the bridge and one of the waterfalls cascading down the canyon wall. It would have been a perfect morning to relax for a while if the mosquitos hadn’t been absolutely relentless!
