Blue Hour at Percival Landing | Western Washington Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

Vertical orientation.

Percival Landing is a marina on the Budd Inlet of the Puget Sound in Olympia Washington. The Olympia Yacht Club members and others boat owners dock here, and occasionally there are events such as the wooden boat show, and tall ships festival. The surrounding area is a public park, and one can walk along the docks and see the boats close-up. On this calm and tranquil July dawn, I arrived before sunrise and walked the piers capturing images as the daylight began to light the marina. The water was calm enough to mirror the boats and the colors of the sky with just a few ripples, and the masts of the boats along this pier were catching the first golden rays of sunshine. At the end of the pier, a small tent was set up, so I worked as quietly as possible so as not to disturb whoever was sleeping there. I wasn’t quiet enough however and soon heard some stirring. The occupant was pleasant though and offered to move the tent so that I could continue photographing the marina. A few years earlier before we moved from the area, there were almost always homeless people sleeping all throughout the park, but the city has finally addressed it, and this man was actually the boat owner.
