Balanced Rock View | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print
This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with traces of the original red paint created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only, in three optional sizes and materials.
Idaho's Balanced Rock near Castleford is a popular Magic Valley attraction. It is almost 50 feet tall, and balances on a pedestal only 3 feet by 17 inches. The rock and others nearby were carved by winds into their present formations. The area is hot and dry in the summer, with very few flowers or green vegetation, but on the July morning that I took this image, the natural colors of the rock and lichens covering them were brilliant enough to make it a beautiful sight. I explored around the area for quite awhile looking at different angles and perspectives, and when I rounded the rocks in the foreground, this view caught my attention. It almost seemed as though the balanced rock was framed in the center of an old scales/weight balance, with the solid rocks on each side balancing each other out. I loved the perspective and color, and this image is one of my favorite I have ever taken of this rock.
