Auger Falls is just a few miles downstream from the Perrine Bridge in Twin Falls Idaho. The City of Twin Falls operates the Auger Falls Heritage Park which has mountain biking trails and a skills course, as well as access to the falls and views of Mermaid Falls across the canyon. There are quite a few rapids and drops along the Snake River in this area, and the first time I visited, I was amazed by the power of the rushing water through here. I wanted to get down near the water, but the terrain is rocky, and there are steep drops in several places. I have tried several times to capture the rushing water here and haven’t been very pleased with most of my images. On the day I took this image, I had biked out to catch the sunset in mid-June. I climbed down on one of the rock outcroppings to get as close as possible to try to capture the motion of the rushing water, as well as the evening light reflecting on it. Some of my images from this spot were ruined by water splashing on the lens, but I guess that is the price of getting as close as possible to the action! This is one of my favorite images from that evening trip.
