Sun over Upper Salmon Falls | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a weathered gray stain finish, created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only without frame, in three optional sizes and materials.

This magnificent waterfall is called Upper Salmon Falls, located just downstream from the Old Owsley Bridge in Hagerman. The location is a favorite of mine to photograph. It is beautiful during every season of the year, and I have enjoyed capturing snow falling there in wintertime, and photographing summer sunrises as well, but I think fall is perhaps my favorite season to visit. During autumn the trees and brush turn shades of red, brown and gold, and in the golden hours of morning or evening, the colors are rich and vibrant. The falls here drop about 16 feet, but flow over and through an intricate maze of passages and levels in the basalt. Using a slow exposure caused the water to become smooth as silk, cascading gently over several layers of rock. As I scrambled around on the rocks looking for good vantage points, I saw the sun starting to crest over the horizon just above the falls. I love to capture the sun in photos, and I positioned my camera where I thought the sun was lined up perfectly. The bright sun caused a few flare spots in the image, but I think they add to the charm of the photo. This is one of my favorite shots of this waterfall.
