"Stormy Bay" 12x18 canvas print framed in a hand crafted barn wood frame

$125.00

This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a weathered oak stain created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork.

Woodard Bay on the south Puget Sound was an important logging transfer facility from the 1920s until the 1980s, when it was designated a state conservation area. Some remnants of the piers used to transfer logs to ships still exist, but the area has been reclaimed and is a habitat for seals, bats, herons, and other species. The Olympia area in Washington State gets an average of 111 days of rain a year, and it is very common to have overcast skies throughout much of the year. This image is from June 2019, on an overcast morning that allowed some sunlight to filter through, creating diffused light on the glassy surface of the bay. The billowing clouds seem filled with anger, in contrast to the calm peaceful water along the shoreline. The reflection of the sky and stumps is pristine in clarity, and unmatched in beauty..
