"Scattering clouds over Dierkes Lake" Print
Images include an optional hand-crafted barn wood frame for a 12×18 canvas print.
Dierkes Lake in Twin Falls is a popular recreation and often a bustling, noisy public park. However, I arrived before sunrise when there was no one around. The east end of the lake is typically calmer and often has magnificent reflections. I set up my camera in the dark in my favorite spot on the water’s edge, but even though I could see some color beginning to show, I was too low to really see the horizon. I hiked up to the higher trail, and then up and down several times checking and anticipating that the colors in the sky would soon be visible by the shore. Finally, I decided that I was going to miss the color if I waited too long, so I packed everything up to the trail above, and found a gnarly looking sage brush that would look nice in the foreground, where I could get both the skies and the reflections in the lake. The colors were fading fast, but as luck would have it, some scattered clouds had begun to spread out and reflect the dawn colors. This shot captured the striking contrast between the fiery and wildly energetic scattered clouds, and the serene, glassy peaceful water. It accentuates the calmness and peace of the lake and surrounding shoreline and elicits a feeling of serenity and peace.
