Roses in filtered sunlight | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print

from $15.00

This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with only a clear protective finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only, in three optional sizes and materials.

I often prefer to photograph wildflowers in the mountain areas of Idaho, but as the roses began blooming in full force in Twin Falls this past May, I resolved to make a visit to the College of Southern Idaho (CSI) campus to see the flowers and the rose garden there. I went in the early morning before the sun was high enough to cause a harsh glare, and I spent a couple of hours photographing the spectacular roses in the garden. Many of the varieties there were larger than any I had ever seen and were truly magnificent to see. I wanted to get in close and get a very sharp focus, so I used my tripod, which was getting rather worn out. Bending the legs in and around the bushes was too much for it, and I broke one of the legs right off the tripod. It then took me much longer to get set up, which stretched my patience. As frustrating as it was, I was lucky enough to get quite a few beautiful shots of the flowers, and although flowers are not my best-selling photos, they are still some of my favorites.
