"Rock Creek Fall Leaves" 12x18 fine art print framed in a hand crafted barn wood frame
This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame preserving the authentic red and white barn paint with a protective finish, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork.
The air was definitely crisp this November morning in the South Hills. It was 17 degrees when I began exploring and hiking around Ross Falls and Rock Creek, and most of the Aspens had already lost their leaves. I had driven up to the South Hills for the fall colors but was a few weeks too late. However, I pulled off the road at every pullout to explore a bit, and this spot was well worth it! That late in the season the sunrise was later, and though I usually call it quits before 9:00am, that morning there was still a golden glow in this little patch of Quakies by the creek. I found a spot to cross and then perched haphazardly on some rocks in the creek, trying to crouch down as low as possible without falling in for the best perspective. This exposure was a little over a second long, which smoothed out the water nicely, and captured the glow of the sun on the water and leaves perfectly. I kneeled and crouched down for as long as these old knees could handle it, and got a dozen good images at different exposures, but this is definitely one of my favorites. Next fall I will know better than to wait so late in the year for the fall colors in the South Hills!
