"Mount Harrison Sunrise" Print

from $75.00

Images include an optional hand-crafted barn wood frame for a 12×18 canvas print.

This image from near the summit of Mount Harrison in the Albion Mountains was absolutely worth the extra effort it took to get there so early in the summer. I researched the location, downloaded maps, and set off from Twin Falls at 3:30am to arrive before sunrise. However, nothing I read mentioned that the road would be closed from the Pomerelle Ski area up to the summit! This was my first time visiting, and I was not aware that the snow typically covers the roads until about the first week of July. It was a one-and-a-half-hour drive to get there, and it looked like I might be able to hike up the road, so I set off walking. There were areas that were clear, but some of the roadway was still covered with more than 6 feet of snow. Luckily, I had good boots, and the snow was well packed. It was about an hour walk in, but I enjoyed this magnificent sunrise while hiking! My final destination was Lake Cleveland, but the sunrise views while walking were at least as stunning as the lake views when I arrived. This scene is so serene and calm that it fills me with peace each time I see it. The extra effort to hike in that day turned out to be absolutely worth it!
