"Fall Hole Sunset" 12x18 canvas print framed in a hand crafted barn wood frame
This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a weathered gray stain finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only without frame, in three optional sizes and materials.
This gorgeous little waterfall is located below Upper Salmon Falls in an area simply called “Fall hole” in Hagerman. It is an area with half a dozen different waterfalls, some small and some rather large and spectacular. The location is a favorite of mine to photograph. It is beautiful during every season of the year, and I have enjoyed capturing snow falling there in wintertime, and summer sunrises as well, but this May evening was a special one for me because I had just purchased an upgraded wide-angle lens, and stopped here on my way home to try it out. Some of the falls in this area are easy to access and photogragh, but some require either wading in the water or jumping across a rather deep crevice to get to an island section that allows better views of some of the other falls. I wanted to get an angle where I could get the sunset in the background, so I jumped across, and scrambled down to where I could get a good view of this little waterfall looking toward the northwest. It was a little tricky getting the tripod set up on the very linited rock surface that I climbed down to, but it was worth the trouble! I got several shots of the setting sun and the colors after the sun went down. This image is one of my favorite because of the way the light fell on the falls, leaving them illuminated while the darkness was settling in.
