"Garden of the Gods, Colorado Springs" 12x18 canvas print framed in a hand crafted barn wood frame

from $75.00

This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a weathered oak stain finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only without frame, in three optional sizes and materials.

Garden of the Gods overlooks Colorado Springs with massive red, pink, and white limestone and sandstone rock formations. Our daughter got engaged while living in Colorado Springs, so we made a trip down to visit during our spring break. There are so many magnificent formations that a photographer could spend weeks exploring the area. I visited early one morning before sunrise and got a few photos while the moon was still visible and before the sun made an appearance. One trail makes a large circle around the outskirts of the park, offering spectacular views all along the way. I stopped at this overlook to see the larger formations lined up, so beautiful from this angle, especially with the colors of the rising sun. I chose the gnarly trees and smooth boulders for the foreground of this image, because the contrast was intriguing between the wild tree branches and craggy rocks, as compared to the smooth rock and ground levels below. The lighting was pretty ideal and captured the beauty of the rock formations without harsh shadows or direct sunlight. The park was quiet at 6:00am, with only a few other photographers finding their vantage points, and the serenity and peace was just what I needed!
