This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a weathered gray stain finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. On New Year's Eve 2024, I took a drive out toward Hagerman Idaho, driving along River Road. We had well below freezing temperatures, and as I drove along, the sun began hitting the river surface, creating the most magnificent steam fog I have ever seen. I drove across the Clear Lakes bridge, and down into the Niagara Springs Wildlife Management Area, where there is access to the river. I ran across a few hunters while finding a spot along the river's edge, and one even began preaching religion to me while I was setting up my equipment! I got set up, just as the sun's rays were brightly reflecting on the river and got several shots of the rising steam fog. The ascending fog was so eerie as it engulfed the trees on the shoreline. The rocks that were in the shadows were still coated in frost, which quickly melted when the sun struck their surfaces. The biting cold made me want to run into the lighted areas to bask in the warmth that so quickly melted the frost. This will always be one of my favorite images because of the contrast between the frozen rocks, and the sunlit steam fog.
