"Majesty" 12x18 canvas print framed in a hand crafted barn wood frame
This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a simple white stain finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only without frame, in three optional sizes and materials.
While we lived in western Washington, the Nisqually Wildlife Refuge near Olympia was one of my favorite places to visit. The refuge is located at the Nisqually River delta, where it flows into the Puget Sound. It is common there if the tide is high to see sea lions, herons, eagles, and many species of birds while walking along the boardwalk. While we were back visiting the area early one June morning I went out to the refuge and found two adults and one young bald eagle hanging around the boardwalk. They weren't too concerned that I was there if I didn't get too close. Luckily, I had a 400mm lens with me and was able to zoom quite far. I had been out shooting a lot that week, getting up early and staying up late, and I was struggling to get my contact lenses to focus very well, so I had to depend on autofocus to do its job. When I got home to edit the photos, I was very pleasantly surprised to find that most of my photos were in focus and turned out beautiful. Being able to get close enough to a bald eagle to get a shot like this was a real treat, and the magnificence of these birds is truly a wonder.
