"Rolling Fog" 12x18 canvas print framed in a hand crafted barn wood frame

from $75.00

This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with only a protective finish created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only without frame, in three optional sizes and materials.

One of my favorite things to try to capture in nature is fog settling on valleys or mountains in early morning. Having grown up on a farm, I cut and baled a lot of hay, and while out driving in a rural area on a September morning, I passed this scene and had to stop to capture this moment merging these two things that are quite fond to me. The grass in this field had been left to grow throughout the summer and was cut and baled in mid-September. It is common on fall mornings south of Olympia Washington to see low rolling fog over valleys and open areas, and on the morning that I shot this image, the fog created a perfect backdrop for this freshly baled grass field. The misty morning air was cool and fresh, and calm enough to capture the tall grasses in the foreground without any movement in the breeze. The fog masks the background, causing it to fade away softly, and giving the image a sense of depth. I love capturing rural scenes, and although this is one of my earlier images, it is still one of my favorites.
