Below Star Falls at Cauldron Linn | Southern Idaho Landscape Fine Art Print

from $75.00

This print, framed in a natural barn wood frame with a simply white stain finish, created by the photographer, is truly unique and one-of-a-kind. An additional image shows the framed print hung on a wall with other furniture, to give a sense of size and scale of the finished artwork. Available also as a print only without frame, in three optional sizes and materials.

I have been fascinated with Cauldron Linn since I first explored it. The Snake River here is forced into a very narrow passage through the rock, forming waterfalls and unique shapes in the basalt. I enjoy scrambling down the cliff sides to get to the river edge, and following it as close as possible to the falls. One late July night I was having trouble sleeping so I drove out to Cauldron Linn to do some night photography. As it started to get light, I scrambled down the canyon wall to the river below and then made my way along the rocky shore toward the falls. At one point, it looked like I could pretty easily hop across rocks to get to the other side of the river, so I did, and then worked my way along the rocks to get close to the falls. The sun was just coming up, so I took advantage of the low light and took some slow exposure shots. There was a little breeze and the water was choppy, but it smoothed out nicely with the long exposure. I love how the falls appear like soft silk, especially the little one on the right. The rock formations are massive, and I love how the light hits them.
